Guide to Updating an Art Studio and Office

Organizing A design Studio

I began working on my art studio and office updates near the beginning of summer in order to refresh and basically clean out the work space. I'm guessing that most artists and designers can relate to the studio stacks of materials from projects that seem to build up and grow over time. I soon realized that my studio is usually in a state of evolving and occurring projects and that I would never be totally ready to completely for sharing. This was a nice challenge to  tidy-up, photoshoot, and share my space as it currently appears.

As you may remember, I planned to declutter and even host a Shibori workshop event this summer. I began with both inspiration and product boards, as I started to source pieces to help me reorganize my space.  To begin to organize the space, I relied on new and old furnishings to give the room order and structure.

So here it is, my studio, work in progress!

As you can see, the white open shelving with drawers hold most of my art materials, paints and textiles. My desk and writing space is to the left and my work table is to the right.

art studio board, so that we can design our artistic spaces and share inspiration.

Here is a list of the basic furnishing and accessories that I used to organize the room:
1. Rolling Cart Desk: used as my office desk
2. Mint green file cabinet: used to organize files and paperwork
3. White Open Shelving- used to store materials, paints and supplies
4. Lovell Kitchen Chair: used as desk chair
5. Linen Curtain Panels
6. Beaded Curtain Ties
7. Studio folding stools
8. Himalayan Salt Lamp
9. Chakra crystal set
10. Bamboo pendant lighting
11. Floating Walnut Mirror

Top on my to-do list was organizing my workspace and files. I do love the new rolling cart desk and mint green file cabinet. After using it for a few weeks, I find the workspace is easy to keep clean and the file cabinet helped me to tame a lot of random file folders.

I often use baskets to organize various art materials in my studio. I am particularly fond of this basket was handmade by my aunt, who has practiced the art basketweaving for years.

Finally, basket full of latest Shibori prints on cotton linen, tea towels and various textile samples in indigo blue. If you are interested in learning the Art of Shibori, please check out my upcoming Shibori scarf workshop!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my studio tour and will continue to be a part of it as it evolves!

I know there are many interesting artists and spaces out there. I'd love to explore them all with you.To gather more beautiful studio inspiration, I created a Studio Spaces board on Pinterest. Please follow this board for updates. Also, I am considering making this a group pin board, so please reach out to me, if that is something you would like to collaborate on. I did not see nearly as many art studio spaces on Pinterest as I had imagined. So, I would love to contribute to the development of their collection of images too. I feel like a lot of artists and bloggers that might be interested sharing their spaces here too?!
