Marbling napkins with Textile PaintsToday, I am excited to announce my next workshop, Holiday Gift Marbling! I have been working with this technique for years in my studio and teaching it in the classroom. This holiday season, I wanted to try my hand at marbling cloth napkins along with marbling large-scale marbled art prints for gift wrap. I really hope that you can join me for the workshop on December 10th at Domain in Weho. It is going to be a lot of fun. With the holidays just around the corner, this is will be the last creative Sunday of 2017! Here is a little preview of the techniques that I will teach at the marbling event! Now, who is ready to marble something with me? For this project, I used:
I have to admit that marbling on cotton with textile paints can be more challenging than the marbling on paper that I have tried in the past. Please read on, if you are interested in learning more and would like to see the final results on fabric!

Hosting a Giveaway + Grateful for New beginnings this yearToday, I have something special to celebrate. In November of last year, I began this site, with the intention of sharing DIY content and starting a conversation about diy, textiles, woodworking and design. I am excited to announce that it has been 1-yr of learning and sharing also known as my blogiversary, yay! To celebrate I am giving something away from my hand-dyed collection. Foremost, I wanted to thank you, my readers, along with the blogging community and the new friends and creative people that I have met this year. It has been super fun, and I would not be doing this without you! This year has been especially renewing and inspiring to me. My vision for this space to share workshops, DIY and design is emerging as we go! To look back at the first post on ever written for this site, I can see how I have grown in a year. When I look back over this first year, there have been milestones that have been transformative through the act of creating. Not to mention, my current studio work has expanded to include indigo, fiber arts and textile design. For me, these were the top 10 momentous events here on A Day in the Life in 2017.
In 1 short year, I have learned so much. I am grateful, for all of those new friendships and artists that I came across this year, I can't wait to see what unfolds in 2018. I plan to start making DIY videos on my Youtube channel and hosting more workshops, so please continue to follow along with me! My next workshop, Marbling Cloth Napkins was just announced, I hope you can join me! In the spirit of gratitude for the amazing year that we just had, I am giving away a set of Shibori tea towels. For this giveaway, you can win a set of 2 large indigo Shibori tea towels in blue. These will make amazing gift to yourself or a friend! To be entered to win this set of 2 Shibori tea towels. Week 7: One Room Challenge BOYS NATURE ROOM REVEALIt's finally here! Week 7 of the One Room Challenge, which means we have reached the finish line on this one and it's time for the much anticipated reveal. For this project, I am re-designing our son's nursery turned guest room, into a boy's nature inspired bedroom. You can catch up on the previous week's posts here: Inspiration/ Product Boards/ Before Photos/ Paint guide/ Painting/ Decor + Bedding Sneak Peak This how the room looked before, when we had temporarily been using it first as a nursery then as a guest room. We always planned to transform it back into our son's bedroom. My son loves the outdoors and I wanted to create a peaceful space inspired by nature. Since we currently rent in Los Angeles, I decided to change the space primarily through paint, lighting and photography. I do believe in keeping kid's spaces simple, so that their minds are uncluttered and free to explore toys and objects more deeply. I noticed that when we keep alot of toys out in the room, my son can become easily distracted. My goal was to personalize his space while keeping the room minimal. I always felt that I would finish the challenge no matter what, but I have to admit to a few hiccups along the way. I had a handyman cancel on me twice, right as the painting needed to happen, I ended up painting 2 of the walls myself! All that along with the personal launch of a textile workshop that I had been planning for months, and yet some how I made it to the end! Are you guys ready to see the final room results? because I am excited to share them along with a full list of sources at the bottom of this post!
