Natural Dye Group
Join us for an opportunity to explore the magical world of natural dyes in a 3 week course!
In this 3 part course, Hilary L Hahn will facilitate and lead artists in the study of authentic natural dyes such as logwood, pomegranate, madder root, and indigo. This course is a natural dyers dream come true! We will meet 3x over a 3 week period (online!) and dip into the world of natural color in detail. You will learn how to use 3 authentic and historical natural dyes! We will focus on one dye per session, up-cycle our current wardrobe or linens culminating with our organic indigo vat in week 3.
Week 1: Pomegranate
Week 2: Madder root
Week 3: Organic indigo iron vat
Dates & Times below:
Week 1: Sunday, May 24th 10 a.m. PST
Week 2: Friday, May 29th 3:30 p.m. or Sunday, May 31st 10 a.m. PST
Week 3: Sunday, June 7th 10 a.m. PST
One bonus is that all of these dye colors: yellow, red and blue can be used in combination to create an array of colors and overlays. It's going to be inspiring! Our final meeting will culminate with the creation of a natural indigo vat. Indigo patterns can then be used to overlay work done in the initial 2 weeks. We will learn as a group and share images and notes.
I will personally guide you to make sure that you have the correct the dye materials needed. The materials for this class are about $29 USD and are not included. To offset some of the material cost, I have created 10% off the entire course.
This course begins on May 24th and continues through the first week of June- what better way to spend quarantine than learning with a group of like-minded dyers?!
