One Room Challenge Week 5: Painting the Walls and Lighting
This week feels exciting because we finally made a bit more progress on the Boy's Nature Bedroom, you may remember last week, when I narrowed it down to 4 paint colors. Now, with only 2 weeks left of the One Room Challenge, I am eager to get the walls painted so that we can begin to move furniture into the room. After careful debate, we finally decided on a new wall color for the room. hooray! We wanted something soft and light that would accent the photography. We had originally considered painting the room a soft white.
So without further ado, the color that we chose is: Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore.
Now, I'm convinced that we have to paint the trim and door in Cloud White, a softer slightly warm white that will not look yellow or beige.
In a twist to the plot, we decided to do an accent wall in a deeper color. Many of you responded to our Instagram poll with Blue Dusk and I do like how it looks on one wall!
Boys Nature Bedroom Products and Design Boards
Ok, so it's better late than never right?! Are you ready to see the product boards for my son's nature-inspired bedroom? I really need your help making a decision about the bed, especially if you have a strong opinion about one option or the other.
You might remember the Boys Bedroom Inspiration boards that I revealed on at the beginning of the week. I loved all of the rooms that I showed there from the vintage inspiration to the bohemian textiles, and playful flourishes in the design.
For our son's room, I am building the space around the bed and the artwork. The bed will be a twin bed and it needs to have a trundle below to accommodate overnight guests. So that is an absolute requirement. The bed design will serve as an anchor, as the largest piece of furniture in the room. Since my son loves spending time outdoors and in nature, I wanted to use large scale photography would be an awesome way to bring the outdoors into the room. I have a gorgeous piece of photography to share with you of Icelandic horses that I had printed using Photowall, a company that specializes in digital prints on canvas. I can't wait for you to see how that piece turned out, once I get it all stretched onto the frame! He loved ponies as a toddler and still does.
So without further ado, here is Option A:
Neel's Mid-century Modern Nature Retreat
I definitely want to put a photo of him in the room too~ this one is from last year and he loves looking back at younger versions of himself. This option feels more grown up and sophisticated to me. I am also a big fan of mixing walnut and gray. His current dresser is white and in a separate area of the room (and bolted to the wall;) so it will have to stay for now.

There is also Option B:
Neel's Scandinavian Rainbow Room
One thing to know, is that he currently loves rainbows. This board is even more playful and speaks to his current love of color and rainbows, which according to him, are for boys;) This design revolves around light natural wood tones and white shelving. Also he loves the color wheel artwork designed by me for Minted.com Ironically, he can be one of my biggest fans but also my biggest critic;) Which room design do you like best?

I hope that you will follow along with me there! I would love, in some way, to combine the 2 rooms. What are your thoughts about that? Do you have a product board that you prefer over the other? I'd love to hear from you, in the comments.
Girl's Nursery room Tour + Wall Art
Hey there, everybody! I hope you had a fun and/or relaxing weekend. Ours was filled with several toddler related activites, which were all fun.
Today, I wanted to share an impromptu post of a children's nursery picture that my friend Katie sent me a picture of on Friday. Katie and I went to high-school together and now she lives with her family in South Carolina. She is expecting a baby girl. I loved how she designed the her daughter's space using a clean white palette and soft colors. To add color, Katie used bedding, books, and artwork. She even used my watercolor painting, Amer Palace, Jaipur above the her changing table which meant a lot to me. Also, I really like the changing table! Isn't the mix of vintage and modern in the space lovely?
Thank you Katie for sharing these lovely pictures and best of luck to you with the newest addition to your family.
Today, I happen to be shopping for a new photographic print for our living room to hang above our sofa. I am looking for something neutral and beachy.
You can order your beautiful unique framed prints here too. The coupon code 12GIFTS expires today...so hurry! I will try to update this post with new codes as they become available.
